Koa Kards was formed in the beginning of 1996 with the idea that you don't have to pay outrageous prices to get something that's made of Hawaiian Koa wood. Our saying at Koa Kards is "Don't just own something made in Hawaii, Own something that is Hawaii."

The Product

Our current product line includes Koa Wood Postcards, Koa Wood Bookmarks, Koa Wood Magnets and Koa Wood Folded Greeting Cards. We are able to incorporate any custom design or photo into our line of Koa Wood products, the possibilites are endless.

The Process

Koa (or other species of hard wood) is peeled to a 1/200" thick veneer and two pieces are fused together which produces what is called "micro-veneer."

The Wood

Koa (Acacia Koa) is the second most plentiful tree in Hawaii, indigenous to the island of Hawaii. The wood was highly prized among the ancient Hawaiians who used it to build their canoes. Originally, the wood was made into items, which only Hawaiian Royalty was allowed to own. Since then, thousands of different items have been made from Koa wood. Currently the only place in the world the wood is being harvested is on the summits of the Big Island of Hawaii.
